Finnish Sauna

Born from our forest restoration project, this authentic Finnish sauna was built entirely with materials from the area's woodland - its benches carved from invasive white cedar we removed, as well as the planks that hold the structure. After months studying Nordic sauna traditions, we've recreated the ritual using local volcanic stones and Mexican-grown timber, finishing the exterior with protective yakisugi charring. Only the wood-burning kiuas stove comes from Finland.

Here, sustainability comes full circle: trees sacrificed for the forest's health now radiate warmth back into it. The cedar that once threatened native oaks releases its restorative scent in the steam, while the crackling fire burns wood from our careful thinning work. Every element - from the hand-split benches to the glowing stones - connects bathers to the living story of this recovering ecosystem, blending Nordic tradition with Mexican ecological care.
